There was a pretty My Scene doll that I always used in the dollhouse series Xenia and I played for several years. She was skinny but curvy, had long, shining blonde hair, and the cutest clothes. I called her Lola, a name that I also used for myself in any roleplay games, as well as the main character of a short story I wrote in fourth grade. Lola had a boyfriend--a Bratz doll that I named Jake--and was best friends with Xenia’s main doll, a Barbie that she called Star.

Star also had a boyfriend, a Ken doll I can’t remember the name of. The four dolls were a group that would go on adventures together for years. But one day was a little bit different.

Star and Lola were having a sleepover--a girl’s night in of sorts. Xenia brought Star closer to Lola on the bed they were sharing. I felt my heartbeat in my throat as she put Star’s mouth on Lola’s. I glanced at the door, worried that Skyla and my brother would walk in and catch us, but didn’t say anything.

“That can be our little secret,” Star said.
